Matching Pets with People
The mission of Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc of Louisiana (ARF-LA) is to provide appropriate veterinary care, proper nourishment, shelter, and adoption services for stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs, and then place them in loving homes through our adoption process.
All animals are fully vetted and temperament tested before adoption. We have a network of foster homes where our pets are housed until they find their new homes.
Qualified adoptive families are selected through an application process focused on the welfare of the dog and the need to place each dog in an appropriate environment given the individual dog’s background, temperament, and needs.
Since 1998, we have placed more than 2000 dogs.

ARF-LA's funding is derived through fundraisers, donations, and adoption fees. It is a costly and labor-intensive endeavor, but the emotional satisfaction of seeing life change not only for a dog, but also for a family, a widow, a widower, or a single parent with children is VERY rewarding.
We cannot survive without donations from you. For those that are not able to help with fostering or hands on, but you still want to make a difference in saving the life of homeless pets, this is it. A donation of any size is greatly appreciated. Donations can be made with PayPal by clicking on the PayPal button below, or you can mail a check to us. Please visit our contact page for our mailing address.

How We Get Animals
We pick up abandoned animals. We rescue dogs from our local high kill shelters or pounds. We accept animals from individuals who are unable to keep their pets, contingent upon vacant space within foster homes. We agree to take litters only if the owners agree to let us help them get their female spayed.
