Duchess has been reunited with her owner. She is a thirteen year old dog who was left behind in the second story of the house in Grand Chenier by her elderly owner who had no choice. The two story house she was left in collapsed washing her out into the storm. She was found stuck in the mud and was rescued by two Phoenix Firefighters, who turned her over to the wildlife and fishery agents. ARF received her, had her medically tended to and placed her in a foster home. The foster Mom was too curious to wait...so she did a little investigative research and ended up finding the owners niece/god-child. Today 10/9/05 Duchess was returned to the niece who will reunite the two! Happy endings do still happen!!! Rita..now known as Penny was found after hurricane Rita behind a demolished bank. She was stuck in the mud behind the vault (the only part of the bank that survived) What a lucky dog to be saved by a kind soul , who pulled her from the mud!! Pulled from the mud and in a loving foster home until we find her owners or a new forever family. She did have medical needs that are being taken care of by ARF.
